Founder, Faith > Fear
Meet Dominique. A model, blogger, and follower of Christ. In this week’s feature, Dominique talks about recognizing God’s hand in everyday life, living in authentic relationship with Christ, and striving to reflect Him–no matter where we are.
Q: What does “Confidence Without Compromise” mean to you?
A: It’s fearing God and not man, knowing your purpose and fearlessly walking in it! I reflect on my courtship with my now husband and realize it was nothing but the grace of God that allowed us to wait to share our very first kiss with each other at the altar. Is it a sin to kiss? Of course not! Kissing is far from wrong but many times it led Kevin and I to cross boundaries in our past relationships.
Because we wanted to strive to please God, we knew we needed to do things differently than we had before. Knowing your triggers is maturity. Having faith in God and a heart to fear Him and not man gave us the confidence to not compromise. We knew our story wasn’t about us.
Q: How has your faith given you confidence?
A: My faith allows me not to worry about the things that the world wants me to worry about. Matthew 6:25-34 tells us not to worry about everyday life, whether there’s enough food and drink, or clothes to wear.
I’ve seen the Lord come through during the days when I have very little or nothing at all.
And I’ve seen Him provide when I’ve had more than enough to share with the world! Regardless, in both situations, He came through…He showed His faithfulness. Because of God’s consistency in my life, marriage, friendships, etc., it is hard to worry. He literally shows up [NOT within our time frame] but right during His perfect timing. When we seek the Kingdom of God above all else, all things will be added.
Q: What is a go-to Bible verse that you turn to when you need confidence or hope?
A: Luke 10:19: “I have given you the authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and to overcome the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.” This verse is a daily reminder that I do not have to fear; as a child of God, I am protected.
Q: What encouragement would you give to other young women regarding living for the Lord?
A: Often I hear ladies say they are “in waiting” for their husband, but let me tell you this…don’t be waiting on a man to live! Get out and live your life! Spend ample amounts of time with the Lord, travel and see the world [even if you have to travel alone!], get your credit right [not to be more appealing to a man, but for YOU, sis], disciple someone, or seek discipleship, get out there and just live life intentionally!
There are SO many stories your life is meant to tell.
Love is only one chapter. We need more women who will serve the Lord with the simple intention of just loving the Lord, abstaining from sex simply because it pleases the Lord. Get back to the place where you do all things just to make the Lord smile and for the simple purpose of being near to Him.
Learn About Faith > Fear
I created Faith > Fear, a ministry blog, to help redirect fellow believers to trust in God’s saving grace in everyday situations and to let unbelievers in. Faith > Fear is my life. God has used many of my hardships [not just my MANY joys] to glorify His kingdom. My hopes is that sharing my personal life experiences with conviction and transparency will lead people closer to Christ, to revive and refresh believers and connect unbelievers to experience a God-first life.
Q: How have you seen God work in your life and the lives of others during your involvement?
A: Outside of the Faith > Fear ministry blog, I work as a professional model, and I’ve had people question the sincerity of my faith based off the industry that I work in. They tell me the fashion world is shallow and vain, so why would God have a place for me there? But truthfully, God has a place for His presence EVERYwhere. He is not confined to a church or going out the country on missions trips. He is in every corner of the world, including mine.
This website has allowed others to see how the Lord is present within career choices and has called us to practice Christianity in our everyday live–not just on Sundays during a two-hour service, or during those food drives around the holidays, or on missions trips.
God doesn’t want to be involved, or be just a side piece to “your plan.” He IS the plan.
When I was a child, you could catch me in church at least five days out the week: Choir rehearsal, Bible study, praise dance rehearsal, the list goes on! But the thing is, I wasn’t any more saved than the worst sinner. Like my brother in Christ Dewayne Reed said recently in church, “The only difference is, I heard Jesus name more.”
Being a Christian is NOT about performance; it’s about Jesus changing our hearts and our lives being a reflection of that. It’s friendship with Him, knowing Him, and being known by Him. It’s letting your life and relationship point others to the Good News that friendship with Jesus is extended to them as well! Jesus is the only God.
