Meet Becca. A storyteller, adventurer, and follower of Christ. In this week’s feature, Becca talks about healing from insecurities, embracing identity in Christ, and learning the power of our testimony.

Q: What does “Confidence Without Compromise” mean to you?

A: For me, confidence is all about knowing my identity in Christ. When I’m confident in who God says I am (His beloved child), that confidence floods my other relationships and other areas of my life as well. So confidence without compromise happens when I cling to my identity as a daughter of the King, even when life gets messy. It’s when I know the truth of who I am, in the midst of the world’s great brokenness.

Q: How has your faith given you confidence?

A: To be completely honest, I’m not a naturally confident person. Growing up (and sometimes, even now), I dealt with a lot of insecurities. I was also born with one arm, so my differences stood out, and I’d get a lot of unwanted stares. That certainly didn’t help my insecurities.

But as I grow more secure in my identity as a child of God, I’m watching some of those insecurities slowly melt away.

It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process. It takes patience. But the more I look to my faith to fill me with confidence, the more I can watch my insecurities fade.

Q: What is a go-to Bible verse that you turn to when you need confidence or hope?

A: Isaiah 43:1 – “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” This is my favorite verse because it reminds me that even when I feel alone or afraid or anxious or insecure or whatever, God is with me, and God is bigger than the struggles I’m facing.

Q: What encouragement would you give to other young women regarding living for the Lord?

A: Girl, you are loved. You are wonderfully created with purpose and intention, beautifully designed by the Creator of the Universe. You’re a masterpiece. Live like you believe those words, because they’re true.

My mission in starting Onederfully Created is to reach the hearts of so many young women who have believed the lie that they’re not enough, they’re not worth loving, and they have no real purpose. I hope that by sharing my story, I can encourage others and share the love of Jesus.

Q: How have you seen God work in your life and the lives of others during your involvement?

A: I just started blogging in August, but I’ve had many people email or message me and tell me that my story has impacted them in some way. My favorite email was from a girl who, like me, was born without her right arm. She sent me quite a few questions she’s never been able to ask anyone before, and I was able to answer them for her and encourage her. And more than anything, she encouraged me. God’s taught me that it’s good to be vulnerable and share our stories with others. He grows us through hearing each other’s stories!
