Meet Tiffany. A blogger, adventurer, and follower of Christ. In this week’s feature, Tiffany talks about finding unshakable identity, trusting God’s love, and discovering the true blessings of living for Him.
Q: What does “Confidence Without Compromise” mean to you?
A: I think confidence is something that we grow in as we grow in Christ. When you know and understand who you are in Christ, you become confident in all aspects of your life. You become sure of yourself, your message, your voice, and who God has created you to be. You stand firm in what you believe in and don’t get easily swayed by what the crowds are doing, because you are rooted in Christ and the truth. Confidence without compromise to me means that you are confident in your faith and are strong in what you believe in regardless of what others may think.
Q: How has your faith given you confidence?
A: I think my faith has given me confidence the most in my identity. I really came to know God in a much deeper way while I was going through a divorce and really struggling and feeling lost.
My identify of who I thought I was started crashing around me because it was rooted in my relationship or my job.
All of a sudden, I wasn’t sure who I was anymore. I felt lost and confused. But I ran straight into Jesus’ arms, and He filled me in a way that nothing else possibly could. Faith gives you the confidence to know who you are. We are never shaken when we put our faith and trust in the Lord.
Q: What is a go-to Bible verse that you turn to when you need confidence or hope?
A: Oh this is easy, and I know it’s a popular verse for a lot of people. Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” I felt the Lord actually reminding me of this verse recently. I originally heard this verse during the divorce, and I felt like God was speaking directly to me. I felt like everything would be okay, and God would take care of me. He had plans for me that I couldn’t see, and I needed to trust and believe that they are good.
Q: What encouragement would you give to other young women regarding living for the Lord?
A: The best way I can answer this question is to talk to the younger me and say what I would have told my former self. I wish I wouldn’t have had so many fears and false ideas of what following God would be like. Honestly, the people I met who were Christians always seemed a bit weird. So my impression of what it was to be living for the Lord was really skewed and incorrect. I felt condemned for everything that I liked and enjoyed, and I felt like my personality needed to be diminished if I was to be living for the Lord. But all of that was completely false. I believed a lie.
By following God, I am flourishing, not diminishing. I am more alive, not put in a box.
I wish more people knew that. I wish the stigma would go away, because following God is one of the greatest gifts and blessings we can have in this world. It comes with love, joy, peace, self-confidence and so much more. I wish more people would see that and not the rules. I wish I would have seen that sooner.
Learn More About Lavender Vines
I created Lavender Vines to be a Christian blog centered around sharing the unfiltered truth of what it is like to follow God. The amazing times of breakthrough and rejoicing in God’s love but also the struggles of unanswered prayers, unanswered questions, and the times we feel far from God or like He doesn’t care.
I believe being real with others and sharing that you aren’t the only one struggling helps and encourages others to keep believing and trusting in God.
I created Lavender Vines to be a resource of how to incorporate God into your everyday life in easy, bite-sized ways through prayer, Bible study, your relationships, and more. My goal is for it to be a platform of comfort, hope, and encouragement for others.
Q: How have you seen God work in your life and the lives of others during your involvement?
A: That’s honestly the coolest part–when I feel God put something on my heart to share, and then I receive comments or emails from readers saying that this was exactly what they needed to hear. I’ve even had readers reach out and say they believe God put my blog post in their path specifically for hope and encouragement. That is wild. It’s such a blessing, and I absolutely love the calling God has put on my life.
