Meet Winnie. A blogger, encourager, and speaker. In this week’s feature, Winnie talks about finding joy outside comparison, being affirmed by Christ alone, and remaining teachable in every season.

Q: What does “Confidence Without Compromise” mean to you?

A: Confidence without compromise to me is knowing yourself and not compromising who you are because the world or the enemy tells you so. Being confident in the Lord is knowing your identity and living out that identity without compromising it for the things of this world.

Q: How has your faith given you confidence?

A: I used to seek affirmation from boys and friendships when I was in high school and college. However, once I started developing a real relationship with the Lord, He slowly revealed to me my identity and who He has called me to be.

I learned that my joy and worth comes from the Lord and not His creation.

I stopped caring about what people thought of me. I have walked in confidence with the Lord because I have an intimate relationship with Him.

Q: What is a go-to Bible verse that you turn to when you need confidence or hope?

A: I don’t have a specific verse, but I like stories. I love the Old Testament and the stories there inspire me, recharge me, and encourage me to move forward. The stories of David, Ruth, Esther and Daniel speak truth and uplifts my soul. I get to see examples of the Lord transforming people’s lives.

Q: What encouragement would you give to other young women regarding living for the Lord?

A: Don’t stress. The Lord is already close to you; simply call out to Him, and allow Him to move in your life. Don’t compare your walk with anyone else’s.

Everyone’s walk, growth, and experience is different.

Know that whatever season of life you are in–whether that’s the desert, valley, or mountain–the Lord’s plan for your life still continues. Know that whatever season you are in, the Lord is still teaching you something.
