Amy, Florida
Founder, Take a Walk Ministries
A blogger, writer, and community-builder. In this week’s feature, Amy talks about choosing God above all else–even if it means standing alone.
Q: What does “Confidence Without Compromise” mean to you?
A: When I hear this phrase, I think about Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace…” This world offers countless opportunities to knock down our confidence. To find flaw in our personhood and compare ourselves to those around us. But our faith tells us our assurance comes from the Lord, and in Him alone, we stay.
This world neither satisfies our spirit nor does it try.
Instead, we have a Father that gives us strength and tenacity to follow His Word above the world. To pursue Him instead of our flesh. In that, we do not compromise for the Lord. It is either Him or the world. Him or ourselves. I choose Him.
Q: How has your faith given you confidence?
A: When I meditate on this term, I remember who I was before Christ. I remember feeling lost among a crowd, hopeless among possessions, and lonely among friends. Confidence, was non-existent.
But Christ pulled me out of that darkness and showed me a hope.
A hope that brought forth assurance that this world couldn’t offer. I knew that my identity was no longer in my flesh but in who He is. Knowing that He is greater than me was enough to save me.
Q: What is a go-to Bible verse that you turn to when you need confidence or hope?
A: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body what you will put on, is not life more than food and body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25). This scripture allows me to let go of what material things this world offers, lay it down, and put my hope in the light and salvation that God offers instead.
Q: What encouragement would you give to other young women regarding living for the Lord?
A: I would tell them that their identity is not bound by what their peers think of them, or what this world thinks of them.
You are not your career, your grades, or your outward appearance.
You are a spirit, a new creation, a daughter of God, and that frees you from the grip of judgement and comparison. Choosing to live your life for Christ will give you so much more strength and hope than anything this tangible world could ever try to produce.

An online ministry that produces resources to help guide women in their daily pursuit of Christ.
Q: How have you seen God work in your life and the lives of others during your involvement?
A: In order to start this ministry, I had to leave a very secure career. One that caused coworkers and family to laugh at me in my decision to leave. Sometimes doing the Lord’s work means sacrificing things that this world defines as important. It teaches you to rely on the assurance God provides instead of your own.
